Capcom has found a new way to piss on Mega Man fans.

I honestly don’t know what’s worse, this insult to people who have given Capcom hundreds of dollars and hours of their time over the last decade and more, or those who think it’s funny to add to the insult by saying Mega Man fans should just ‘deal with it’ and that it’s a ‘joke.’

To me, it’s not a joke. It’s extremely hurtful and it furthers my idea to never buy from Capcom again.

I wanted to post about this and I found the perfect fanboy post to reblog.

This is goddamned amazing.  AMAZING.  The people all pissed off about this are amazing as well.

This is amazing. I might get this game now.

Why are people actually upset about this? They can commission an artist to make terrible box art for Megaman 10, but adding what is clearly a joke character in a fighting game that features pacman is too far?

The problem people are having isn’t actually the bad art Mega Man itself, which is fucking hilarious, but the fact that Capcom has pretty much already spent the entire past year shitting on Mega Man fans in general. In between keeping any version of Mega Man out of MvC3, citing nonsensical “we couldn’t make him work in-engine” reasons, and cancelling both major Mega Man projects, and then taunting Mega Man Legends fans for essentially not making MML3 themselves, having bad boxart Mega Man appear essentially as the only “consolation” for them, well, yeah. It’s pretty awkward.

It’s not the concept that’s insulting, it’s the timing.

Granted, people are still enormously overreacting, but Capcom has been inexplicably cruel toward its userbase lately.

It’s okay. It’s capcom, guys. You can unlock the anime skin already on the disc on day one for four dollars. Everyone wins. Even my cynicism.
